Hello friends, I hope you are having a fantastic Friday and closer to happy hour than the last time you checked your watch. And may that be a satisfying prelude to an awesome weekend.
I've been thinking of blog names lately, mainly because of all the blogfests and hops one takes part in, we get exposed to such variety and yet the more things change .....(yada yada fishcake). Initially this was my second blog tip post and then laid that thought to rest because the inspiration came mainly from four words: RAMBLINGS, RANDOM, MUSING/S and THOUGHTS. Let me first apologize to anyone who has these words in their blog title and may get offended, its not done out of malice but merely observation. It really amazes me that so many people can think of so many ways of arranging these words to get a blog name but there you go.
One of the things I noted about names that have been used this repetetively is that the blog author becomes less identifiable. Something to do with brand identity i'm sure but I'm no marketing expert. What I do know for sure is that when I open one of the blogs on my list with widely used names, it takes reading the content for me to remember who the author is or what the blog is about. I don't think that's a plus for brand presence.
This brought me to blogs whose names I love, find very exciting and also immediately come to mind when mentioned or I come across then. Here is my "Blog Name Hotness" list in no particular order:
East For Green Eyes
I am still a little baffled by why Rosie calls her blog East For Green Eyes but I remember how curious I was when I saw this name on the last A_Z challenge I just had to find out what it was about. I somehow decided that the name may have to something to do with the authors East European origins.
Shovelling In A Jo Storm:
Jo commented on this blog first and she was one of the first commenters I followed because her name gave me pictures of snowstorms and the shoveling thereof and I was thinking " what kind of person could have such personality?"
Coming Down The Mountain
It could just be the African in me that pulled me to this name and up to today its one of those that I never have to look up or try hard picture who the author is.
The Character Depot
Need I say more. Would you not just want to find out what happens at a character Depot
Writing In The Crosshairs
I went to this blog having come across it from Jo Storm's blog and the author sent me a copy of their book that I had complained I couldn't get a hold of. So generous, it was my first ebook gift (you never forget your first_not in books at least). Anyway I was really struck by this blog name because I wasn't sure what crosshairs meant but for some reason associated it with war. Then went to actually google its meaning and then pondered what it might mean in writing (thought provoking_for me at least). I love this name.
Ellie Great
Ellie's blog name always gives me that amused smile because its so: "I'm Hot Like That" which I think is really awesome because she is hot like that.
Kiru Taye Writes
I'm not a great fan of self-named blog names (which is really stupid thinking I know because all the experts say one should do it). mainly because entertainment and eye-poppingness wise, i find them quite lacking. There is very little reason why I would visit Mary Writes unless I know Mary or something about her. And this is true unless of course you have an exotic and sexy name like Kiru. I would know this blog anywhere, it suggestively screams "come on over, moi boudior awaits"......... There is just no chance of it ever being mistaken for anyone else in my mind.
The Kissed Mouth
I've only recently started following this blog but would you not be curious enough to visit this page if you came across a name like that on the web?
L'AUSSIE
This blog name always pulls me to it everytime I catch a glimpse. It's very....mmhhh..catchy i think.
I'll stop here for today because otherwise this will go on forever and ever.
