When your soul gets distracted from the path of Allah, it starts yearning for worldly desires. The worship of Allah is neglected, and instead, it gets consumed by worldly affairs. Grief and unhappiness manifest in your life, and life become a pointless journey. Hardships are no longer the means to forgiveness as tests and trials from Allah, they are trials and consequences from your actions.
