There is a reason that we do volunteer work, bring flowers to a friend in the hospital, or buy a special gift for someone we love just to show we care. It makes us happy. It makes someone else happy. Sometimes, in fact, being kind and considerate to others actually benefits us more than the people we're helping. It brings us joy to make other's smile (at least, it does me :-)
