If you want to be happy in this world, don't look at what others have, instead be thankful for what Allah has given you. Truly, in contentment you find peace and thankfulness. Contentment lies not in abundant wealth, instead contentment is being happy with what you have. When you are appreciative of the little things, Allah gives you more. And if you cannot appreciate the little things, bigger things will only be a waste, and a source of misguidance to you.
Remember, Allah grants all prayers to the souls that are ready for it. You may think something is good for you when in fact it is bad for you. You know not, but Allah knows. When the right time comes, and you have the qualities to be appreciative and righteous, Allah does wonders to your life.
And Allah never denies our prayers, he denies misfortune if He were to answer us, because truly some prayers would only cause us grief and unhappiness. [F.D]
