James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl: After a terrible rhinoceros accident kills his parents, James is forced to live with two evil aunts, who make his life miserable. The intervention of some magic crystals produce a giant peach in James' front yard, where four friendly insects live. Soon enough, Miss Spider has lassoed a flock of migrating birds and the peach soars high into the air, toward distant lands.
“Until he was four years old, James Henry Trotter had had a happy life.”
