A Drifting Life by Yoshihiro Tatsumi: An 800 page comic book memoir spanning the author's life from 1945-1960 as he enters the highly competitive world of Japanese manga comics, which he hopes to change into a mature art form as serious as novels or films. An excellent history of manga and post-war Japan, and an intimate portrait of the type of person who is exclusively and aggressively passionate about making art.
